Lincoln Continental Mark IV 460 V8 1978

General description : 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe If it was the late 70's and you wanted a luxury automobile with all the bells and whistles then there is a good chance you would be cruising around town in a Lincoln Continental.  These cars were a series of luxury vehicles packed with all the modern features available during the time period.  They have stood the test of time and continue to marketed against the top of the line luxury cars of today like BMWs, Audis, Cadillacs and Mercedes Benz.  When a car started being produced in 1939 and is still in production today you know they must being doing something right!  This very cool 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car is a nice classic that has been adult owned since new.  It has been very well cared for and has 78,225 original miles.  For the past few decades the car has been driven very little but does get started to keep everything running well.  It is a 2 owner car that was purchased by the current owner in the mid 90s.  It is always stored indoors.  The body is in good shape with no major rust issues and coated in its original Chamois paint which pairs perfectly with the Burgundy vinyl top.  These cars wore a lot of chrome/trim pieces all of which are nicely mounted in place with a nice shine.  The front hideaway headlights still function properly and sit to each side of the original squared grill.  The original wheels and hubcaps ride under all four corners and are wrapped with thin white wall tires.  Powering the car is the original 460 V8 motor which has no problem getting this big car moving.  It starts up well and drives well.  It is paired with an automatic transmission that moves through the gears smoothly.  All of the comforts you could ask for are in place like power steering, power brakes and AC so it is a very comfortable driver that just glides down the road.  The interiors on these cars were very well done and built for comfort.  In 78 Lincoln wanted to cut weight and refresh the look of the interiors so the steel frame dashboard was replaced with plastic.  The interior on this car is done in a nice Burgundy and is in great shape.  One look inside and you can tell interiors were an important feature on the Continental.  The seats are plush with extra padding, the dashes featured woodgrain trim and everything was built with luxury in mind.  All of the interior pieces on this car are original and how it would have come from the factory.  The trunk of the car is nicely carpeted and houses the spare.  If you are in the market for a cool vintage luxury classic that doesn't break the bank then look no further!  This car has been SOLD! About Lincoln
Lincoln, often regarded as more than just an upmarket Ford, has carved its own niche in the automotive world with a rich history and a lineup of distinctive models. Let's take a stroll down the memory lane of Lincoln's story.

Early Beginnings:

Founded in 1917 by Henry Leland, the man behind the Cadillac brand, Lincoln initially started as a luxury automobile company. The brand quickly gained a reputation for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Ford Era:

In 1922, Lincoln was acquired by the Ford Motor Company, and this marked the beginning of a long association. Ford aimed to position Lincoln as its luxury division, competing with other prestigious brands in the market.

Classic Models:

Over the years, Lincoln introduced several iconic models that left a lasting impact on the automotive landscape:

Lincoln Continental: Launched in the 1940s, the Continental became an instant classic. Its elegant design and iconic suicide doors made it a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Lincoln Town Car: Introduced in the 1980s, the Town Car became synonymous with chauffeur-driven luxury. Its spacious interior and smooth ride made it a favorite among executives and dignitaries.
Lincoln Navigator: The late '90s saw the rise of the SUV craze, and Lincoln was quick to respond with the Navigator. A full-size luxury SUV, the Navigator combined opulence with utility and became a popular choice among affluent families.
