Ford wanted to gain even more of the market and at the same time appeal to a more refined crowd. With that Ford set out to work and under their Mercury banner debuted the Cougar, a gentlemanâs muscle car. The Cougar would become Mercuryâs greatest success and see 8 generations spanning 34 years! Here we have a â68 Model and an XR7! You canât help but crack a smile as you approach this slick Cougar. The paint is very similar to Lime Frost. The paint in in very nice shape and the black vinyl top looks new. The black vinyl interior looks hardly used. As it should as the restoration occurred within the last few years. Under the hood is believed to be the original 302ci V8 backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. Odometer has 88k miles on it and is believed to be accurate. She is sporting a 10-bolt rear and a 3.00 gear ratio. The car runs and drives out well and sounds very nice. The current owner removed the vacuum lines to the headlight covers and converted it to electric which is very nice. He has had it for around 5 years and did the restoration himself. This Cougar was acquired from the original owners who were personal friends, so he has known it for nearly its whole life. The title is clean and clear and ready to be transferred into your name now! Cougars have such large appeal and donât turn up near as often as other pony cars, so they do not last long.
