Pontiac Other Inline 6 cylinder 1940

General description : 1940 Pontiac Silver Streak Woody When you talk about cars that are quickly disappearing you can't go without mentioning the old Woody station wagons.  While their steel body brethren fall victim to rust over time these cars have an even tougher battle considering a large majority of the car is made from wood.  That is what makes classics like this 1940 Pontiac Woody so rare.  Production numbers were limited from the factory and then throw in the deterioration of these vehicles over the past 70 years, there just aren't very many out there.  You rarely see more than 1 of these classics up for sale at any given time and most of the few survivors are in a collection and not available for purchase.  This 1940 is a beautiful example of an unrestored original car.  It has a unique history and comes with various records including some letters to the original owner, WWII/Korea/Vietnam veteran Lt Col William C Vielhauer.  Some previous patches are noted on the wood panels but overall it is really in good condition.  The steel portions are all painted a nice Ridge Green that is likely original.  All of the original chrome and trim is in place with all of the original emblems.  The beige cloth top is in good shape and contrasts with the dark wood and Green paint nicely.  The original matching wheels are found under all four corners with the original style hubcaps and wide white wall tires. Powering the car is the factory straight 6 motor that starts up and runs well.  A 2 barrel carburetor tops off the engine as well as the original air cleaner which still wears the Pontiac Motor Division wording.  It is paired with a 3 speed manual transmission that moves through the gears easily.  The car was just received a tune up and once over to make sure it is running properly.    The interior has the original three rows of bench seating all done in Brown leather upholstery.  The dash is also Brown with a lighter brown steering wheel.  All of the original gauges and trim are there and all working.  The manual shifter is mounted to the column making this a "three on the tree" car.  The rear hatch all opens properly and all of the hardware is there.  This is one rare classic that is only getting more rare as time goes on.  Add it to your collection for $58,000.00!
