Ferrari 400/400i Straman convertible, great working and driving con (0) 1979

Allmän beskrivning : We have a most splendid and very rare Ferrari 400i Straman Convertible. The 400i part of a series of Ferraris starting with the 365 2+2 GT4 ending with the Ferrari 412i. The various models were built over a period between 1972 to 1989, making it the longest-running Ferrari line up to now. During all. At that time the demand remained quite steady. The market strongly was also wanting a convertible version. Ferrari did not feel the need to develop a convertible. Fortunately, a coachbuilder called Straman in Costa Mesa, California, the USA had other ideas. The standard 400i was de-roofed, strengthened and given an electrically operated hood. The Ferrari 400i was also the first Ferrari to. come with an automatic gearbox option. The TH 400 automatic came from General Motors and is the same as the one fitted in this car. This Ferrari 400i was taken to Straman shortly after purchase in order to be converted into a topless model. Richard Straman did many kinds of conversion but this one brought him the most fame. This example is in very authentic condition. The car has a Rosso Corsa exterior finish with black leather interior trim and hood. The paintwork has undergone a cosmetic respray and besides a few minor blemishes is in good condition. The original panelwork is correctly aligned. The hood fits neatly and is in good shape. A tonneau cover is also part of the inventory for days when you want to drive around with the top down. There is black leather upholstery and carpeting throughout. All controls and instruments appear to be original and all are in good working order. The electric hood mechanism works perfectly. A quick inspection reveals original Crommodora wheels shod in the correct Michelin TRX tyres that according to the dot code are only a few years old. The 4.8-litre V12 engine has a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injector and produces 315 Ps. The 3-speed automatic perfectly suits the Ferrari 400i ’s relaxed driving characteristics. The combination of the high cheeked TRX tyres and the supple Koni suspension give the 400i a lovely comfortable ride. It is really no effort to enjoy long distances in this open-top tourer. The 4.8 V12 sings at the top of its voice and does not let you forget for even one moment that you are on the road with something very special! The Straman conversion is of such a high level that many an uninformed person would quite easily believe it left the holy gates of Maranello like this. There is no greater compliment a coachbuilder can receive. We are not sure how many of the 883 automatic transmission Ferrari 400i was converted by Straman, but it is quite possibly only a handful. Den första Ferrari väg bil var de 125 S introducerades 1947 och drivs av en 1,5 L V12 motor, eller hur?
Tja det är inte riktigt så enkelt, Ferrari faktiskt producerar e Tipo 815, 1940 Tipo 815 ritades av ex-Alfa Romeo ingenjörer Alberto Massimino och Vittorio Bellentani och Enrico Nardi enligt Enzo sällskap men juridiska frågor med det tidigare intresse Alfa Romeo hindrade Ferrari från att lansera Ferrari marque vid den punkten.
