Chassis number: WT2259
Registration number: SV6577 UK AM-65-12 (Dutch.)

Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1928 Bentley Speed Six Vanden Plas style tourer for sale. Chassis no WT2259 is recorded as having been test in November 1928 and was supplied new to Mr. J.R. Brooks Esq with a Gurney Nutting Saloon body.
In the early 1990’s the original Bentley bodywork, which was now beyond repair, was replaced with an open tourer body to an original ‘Vanden Plas’ design being fabric covered in ‘British Racing Green’. The Bentley wings were also replaced with a set of long wings to the ‘Vanden Plas’ style, typical of the late 1920’s.
The Bentley engine was built around a new crankcase with a new Phoenix crankshaft and camshaft, six high compression pistons, a C-type gearbox, a new crown wheel and pinion of 3.3:1 ratio, new wiring, Scintilla magneto, 40 gallon Le Mans-type fuel tank, 2 Lucas P100 bulls eye headlamps and so forth.
The Bentley chassis and engine, WT2261, were restored in the early 1990’s to their original specification, by the well know vintage Bentley restoration specialist, Richard C. Moss in the UK. Richard and Graham Moss have restored twenty six cars in total and have more concourse wins than any other company in the world. Total restoration costs, spread over a five year period were GBP £228.000.
The present Dutch owner acquired the Bentley in 2007 with the aim to first make the car ready for international rallies.
Draper Speed six hydraulic shock absorbers were assembled, five new Blockley tires fitted and electronic power-steering added. In total GBP £75.000 was invested to make the car ready for international rallies and concourse events. The odometer is reading now 21,680Km.
From 2007 to today’s date the Bentley is in excellent condition and has driven about 11,500 Km in a couple of International Rallies as follows…

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
