1950 Bentley Speed Eight by Racing GreenChassis number: B229HPRegistration nos. WXG 787
Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1950 Bentley Speed Eight by Racing Green for sale. Brand new and unregistered, this Bentley Speed Eight has yet to be driven and as such, we are currently in the process of obtaining UK plates for it. It is currently on display at our showrooms to be viewed.
Racing Green are well renowned for producing these ‘WO’ evocations based upon the Mark VI chassis with a straight eight four carburettor shoe horned in for motive power. They are absolutely reliable and make for fun vintage style motoring without and issues.
This particular Bentley Speed Eight is finished, appropriately in a traditional livery of ‘Bentley Racing Green’ to the bonnet and wings with complimentary green fabric to the body. The hood is of black mohair with the interior being covered in green hide. The Bentley Speed Eight is needless to say, festooned with lamps and chicken wire in all the right places. A full complement of gauges is dotted across the surface of the machine turned dash. The Bentley Speed Eight has the large ‘Le Mans’ style fuel tank fitted to the rear with a quick release opener. A large fish tail exhaust completes the ensemble with aplomb.
Simply put, this has to be the best Bentley Speed Eight currently available on the market today.
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.
Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930
In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
