General description : Bentley R Type Bensport La Sarthe Fastback.

Chassis: 9 Donor cars currently available in LHD, RHD Auto & Manual.

Constructed & coachbuilt as a bespoke body & options on an original Bentley R type chassis used as a donor car; This modern interpretation is in effect a brand new Bentley Fastback being delivered 65 years late. Every nut bolt bearing & component has been remanufactured to as new.

Traditional coachbuilding techniques are employed producing the aluminium body hammer formed on a traditional buck. Whilst the body is being completed the chassis is disassembled & rebuilt to brand new. The engine is typically bored out to around 5 litres & a free flow exhaust fitted considerably uprating the perfomance. The rear axle is also upgraded to continental specification allowing for very relaxed cruising at modern motorway speeds.

Production time is 6 to 8 months from receipt of order but will vary depending on other orders placed. Payment is done in four 25% increments at the start of the build with the final tranche due just prior to delivery. Paint colour, interior colours & woodwork are of course entirely at the customers discretion. The Green car pictured above is finished in Aston Martin metallic green with a black hide interior & is being delivered to a customer in Japan.

Being a bespoke item there are numeous options to choose from. Power Steering, Custom embossed leather luggage, heated seats , visible or hidden fuel filler caps, revised & uprated springs, spats to the rear wheel arches, wire or solid wheels, upgraded engine perfomance etc etc etc. We strongly encourage customers to visit the factory in Somerset & discuss the full range of options & also to visit the car car as it is being built.

As standard the car comes with electronic period looking instruments (with Tachometer redlined at 4,300 rpm as per originbal continental spec), Electric windows, Electronic ignition, Bijur Chassis lubrication, Lightweight aluminium fuel tank, high efficiency Radiator, to name but some of the items.

? Standard configuration Bentley R-Type Chassis with revised and uprated springs.? Manual or automatic gearbox.? Modified steering column rake angle.? Original engine totally rebuilt, six branch exhaust manifold and high efficiency exhaust system with twin tailpipes.
? Manual gearbox rebuilt to final factory specification.
? Lightweight aluminium fuel tank.? Special aluminium high efficiency radiator.? Fully operational Bijur chassis lubrication system.

Electrics ? Alternator charging system. ? Electronic ignition. ? Electric windows. ? Heated rear window. ? Electronic instruments including Speedo, Rev counter (red lined as per Continental spec at 4,300 RPM), oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, fuel gauge (with electronic tank unit), clock, (all instruments to Bentley pattern with black faces, white figures and printed with the Bentley "B"). ? About Bentley

Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
