Bentley S2 Saloon 1960

General description : 1960 Bentley S2 Standard Steel 4 door Saloon

Reg. 213 UYJ
Chassis No. B29BR

Vintage and Prestige Classic Cars are proud to offer for sale this stunning Bentley S2 Saloon.  The car is in close to brand new condition & is a credit to its restorers, the Rolls Royce & Bentley speciaists PF Autos of Stoke Upon Trent.  They tell us that in excess of £100k was spent on the car to bring it to what we see today.

The car has a low recorded mileage of just 48,000 miles from new which appear genuine when judged by the utter lack of wear on the throttle & brake pedals. This car has had a meticulous restoration to as new by a Bentley Drivers club member who farmed the various parts of the restoration process out to assorted specialists. The car looks smells & drives like new, the only deviation from standard being the fitment of a stainless steel exhaust & air conditioning which blows ice cold.

The car is finished in its original colour of Tudor grey with the paint being new & perfect. To the interior is magnolia leather again in brand new unmarked condition throughout. A modern stereo sound system/CD player with a vintage style face is fitted along with speakers to the front door cards & rear Parcel shelf.

All the Burr Walnut woodwork has been removed & refinished including the twin fold out picnic tables to the rear seats. Carpets are beige Wilton items again recently renewed.

The engine starts instantly & runs in silence as a result of its extensive rebuild. The gearbox has been removed, stripped down & rebuilt & as a consequence provides smooth silent changes. Indeed when driving this car one may imagine one is picking up for the first time from the supplying agent Mann Edgerton of Bury St Edmunds as did the first owner the Honourable J.P. Phillips of Dalham Hall Newmarket.

All chrome & brightwork has been redone. The car sits on four almost new tires.  After restoration, the car was stored for a while so we have performed a full service upon it once it was delivered to us, bills for which are on file.  As a result, the car is driving superbly.   Underneath the car is beautiful in like new condition & corrosion free. If you are looking for one of these in perfect showroom condition, then this is well worth a look. It would cost far more then the asking price to bring a tired example up to these standards.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
