Bentley T2 1978

General description : 1978 Bentley T2 Saloon.

Registration number: WUW171S
Chassis Number: SBH34104

A rare Bentley T2 (one of 588 examples produced) that has undergone a massive restoration including a new engine, a full respray, & almost everything one might imagine having been done to the mechanics.  The car prior to restoration had covered 108,000 miles and had been religiously serviced from the likes of Lex Mead, P & A Wood, Mann Egerton, Jack Barclay, Barnfield Restoration and Michael Powles during this time for his excellency, the previous owner.  About 500 shakedown miles have been covered since the restoration.

The car is finsihed in dark blue with a cream interior & royal blue carpets.  The woodwork has all been removed & refinished like new by the noted woodwork experts Silvercrest.  Under the bonnet the car is as clean as a whistle & a credit to its former keepers.  A masive selection of bills come with the car attesting to its previous service history & also to the more recent restoration work.  As a reult the car drives like new on the road & is an absolute pleasure to be out in.

This is an impeccable car that has had all the money spent upon it & is absolutely ready for extended use.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
