Introduced in 1955 and produced until 1969, the Fiat 600 was the marque’s first rear-engine car and the first small Italian 4-seater, while outwardly small and riding on a wheelbase just shy of 80 inches, the 600 provided remarkable passenger and luggage space thanks to its rear-mounted inline four-cylinder engine.
This wonderful car was first registered on 06/03/1957 and was regularly used until 1977 where it remained in a garage in Morpeth until it was purchased by a Fiat enthusiast in 1999. The passionate new owner stripped the component parts down to a bare shell; the shell, doors, bonnet and boot were taken down to bare metal, refurbished or replaced where necessary then primed and re-painted. This work continued through to 2003 when the owner put the restoration on standstill due to problems sourcing parts. Work kickstarted in 2011 and the restoration was completed in the Summer of 2013, making its inaugural run at the Red Row Show in 2013, 36 years since it was last registered and driven. A fantastic photo album documents the restoration process and is part of one of the most comprehensive history files we have seen for a car, which includes the original restoration document, original Fiat books and numerous invoices.
Our charming little Fiat 600 is finished in it original colour Giuseppe Green with matching interior and engine bay, the interior is in good condition throughout. The car works on the button and is ready to be enjoyed!
This car was formerly owned by a very well know British rockstar and was part of one of the most important private UK collections.

Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (FIAT to you and I) was founded by Giovanni Agnelli in 1899. Their first car 3 ½ CV had a strong resembledence to contemporary Benz, only 25 examples were built. By 1910 Fiat had established itself as Italia's biggest car manufacturer and expanded to the US, where a new plant was built in Poughkeepsie, NY.
At that time Fiat cars were big and luxurious barges for the wealthy or barking mad racing cars like S76 , The beast of Turin, with its 290HP 28.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
However, today Fiat is better reknown for its small symphatic peoples carriers, Topolino, 500 "Cinquecento" and 600.
What ever your favorite Fiat is, you'll find it for sale here at www.classicdigest.com
