Ford 5-Window Coupe 350 V8 1931

General description : 1931 Ford 5 Window Coupe After Ford dominated the market with the Model T for 18 years sales began to trend downward as other manufacturers began to catch up with Ford's mass production system.  As these other manufacturers started to catch up suddenly items considered to be luxury features were becoming the new standard and Ford needed to continue to move with the times before they were surpassed.  The answer...the Model A.  It proved to be a good move for Ford because after being designed in late 1927 they hit the one million sold mark by early 1929 and later that same year doubled that by hitting two million.  There is no telling how many Model As are still around today and the production of fiberglass copies makes that even tougher to determine.  Due to this it is clear why "is it steel?" is undoubtedly the most common question we get on cars of this vintage.  The 1931 5 Window Coupe you see here is one of those steel cars but has been fitted with fiberglass fenders.  It is pretty neat to look at a car like this knowing that body was produced almost 90 years ago and not only survived but is still on a functional, driving, show car.  This car was built in the resto mod style and although the exterior looks somewhat traditional the guts have been modernized with todays improved mechanics and luxury.  The Red paint is in good condition and has a really nice finish.  All of the glass is good and it still has the correct pop out windshield.  It has the round chrome headlights with custom LED taillights in the rear.  The original style stainless radiator housing has been accented with some Red for a unique look and is topped off by the famous flying Quail hood ornament that was the result of hundreds of drawings by Ford and his team.  In contrast to that vintage original style the car is now fitted with custom aluminum wheels that are considerable larger than the originals and let you know that the car is probably packing a bit more heat under the hood than that old four cylinder. Open up the louvered four piece hood and you will now find a nicely built 350 V8 motor that runs great.  It features an Edelbrock intake, Weber carburetor, chrome alternator, polished AC compressor, Mallory distributor, aftermarket coil, MSD wires, and all braided lines.  The motor is very show worthy and combined with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission sending power back to a Corvette rear end.  The car is a nice driver especially after incorporating the modern disc brakes and rack and pinion steering system.  A ton of polished and chrome components were used throughout the build so the undercarriage on the car looks nice as well.  The interior is all custom and done in Red leather which is in great condition.  It has aftermarket dual bucket seats and matching lap belts.  From the carpet to the door panels and headliner everything really has that freshly done look with no rips/tears/stains.  The upper part of the dash is painted to match the body but the middle section for the Classic Instrument gauges is a custom polished piece that really looks good.  Then under that a lower section was built to give it a clean look, house the middle AC vent and to route the polished tilt column.  Music is provided via the aftermarket stereo that is tucked away in the center section of the headliner along with a dome light.  The trunk of the car is where you will find the gas tank and it has all been redone in Red leather as well.  This is also where you will find a battery cutoff and the relocated Optima battery. This classic could be yours for $34,900.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
