Ford Thunderbird 390 V8 1965

General description : 1965 Ford Thunderbird The 4th generation Thunderbirds lasted from 1964 to 1966 and were personal luxury cars.  They had a much more sporty look than the square birds from the 50's but still retained a lot of that vintage chrome styling.  This clean 65 Thunderbird is a nice 2 door hardtop that is mostly original.  It has had 1 repaint in the Blue and White color combination that really looks great on the car.  These cars had a ton of chrome up front with a large bumper and grill set up which has been entirely rechromed.  The back has a ton of chrome as well and is unique in that the entire rear section is made up of a single chrome piece.  All of the original style trim pieces and emblems are there including that classic T bird logo on the nose.  Original wheels and hubcaps sit under all four corners of the car and are wrapped with thin white wall tires.  Pop the hood and you will be greeted with the original 390 V8 motor.  Everything has that factory look being mostly painted in Gold or Black.  The 4 barrel carburetor has been rebuilt and a new battery just installed.  The motor runs strong with no smoking or issues.  It is backed by an automatic transmission and stock rear end.  Being a luxury car the car came packed with all of the power options available in its day like power disc brakes and power steering.   It also has AC and some of the coolest features the car has are found on the inside.  Having trouble squeezing into the driver seat because of the steering wheel?  Well, Ford incorporated a swing away column in these cars so it can be pushed out of the way when entering or getting out of the car.  Features like that are very cool to see and are always a great conversation piece at shows.  The dash on these cars always stand out and this one is no different.  It even has the original ribbon speedometer.  The upholstery work is done in all White and is in good condition.  It complements the White hardtop nicely.  It has bucket seats up front which are separated by the original console.  The trunk of the car is nicely finished out as well with the original style mat, jack, lug wrench and a matching spare.  This TBird has a great look and a lot of unique features you don't see on every old car. Make it yours for the reduced price of $22,500.00 $19,750.00! (trades for 57 Chevy considered)

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
