1930 Bentley Speed Six Long Chassis Vanden Plas style Tourer.Chassis number: LR2791A
Registration number: RX6180
Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1930 Bentley Speed Six Long Chassis Vanden Plas style Tourer for sale in absolutely brand new condition. This Bentley has had an exhaustive rebuild to the highest standards by some of the great names in Bentley restoration.
The Bentley chassis and engine were entrusted to Marque specialists McKenzie Guppy with the completed product being testament to their work. The Coachwork is aluminum on an ash frame constructed to a modified ‘Vanden Plas’ design.
LR2791 is unique, in so much that whilst the factory build-sheet shows the Bentley as a standard ‘Six’, in fact, it forms one of a batch of six chassis all built to the full Speed Six specification, as confirmed by Bentley guru, Clare Hay in her definitive work "The Bentley Speed Six". It has been suggested that the Bentley Speed Six was designated in this way in order to justify a lower selling price as Bentley Motors were struggling to survive the Great Depression, and indeed shortly thereafter the company went into receivership.
The Bentley Speed Six is finished in ‘Midnight Blue’ with mocha brown hides to the interior. A high quality blue mohair hood and side screens complete the look. To say the Bentley is stunning is an understatement. It is as good as any Bentley we have ever had in stock. The dash board contains the usual array of instrumentation. Unusually, the fuel gauge is from a Lancaster Bomber aircraft. The dash is a large slab of straight Frain walnut as are the door and dash capping’s. The ‘St Christopher’ medal on the dash is personal to the owner and is not included in the sale.
Nothing more need be said about this Bentley Speed Six as perfection needs but few words. You have to see it to believe and appreciate it.
