Rover P5 (3-Litre/3.5-Litre) 1971

General description : 1971 ROVER 3.5 LITRE SALOON P5B

Perhaps the most famous of all the Rover styles.  Designed by stylist David Bache, it was a very large and distinguished looking vehicle, with a well appointed and luxurious interior. This general shape of bodywork became instantly recognizable during fifteen years of production and, even beyond the end of manufacture in 1973, remained a firm favorite as a Government Ministerial car. The official car of choice with many a Prime Minister; Heath, Wilson (who apparently had a special holder fitted to the rear compartment of the car for his favourite pipes!) and Callaghan amongst them.
Exceptionally refined by the standards of the day, the later cars powered by a Buick derived, aluminium V8 driving a Borg Warner Type-35 automatic transmission, had the performance implied by its purposeful looks.
Our car is truly among the very finest it has ever been our pleasure to bring to the market. Impeccably presented in all areas, the engine compartment testifies to careful and caring ownership. Both coachwork and upholstery demonstrate the great pride taken by caring owners throughout the cars life. Finished in beautiful Burgundy with Parchment leather interior which was retrimmed to the highest standard, complemented by chrome 5 Spoke wheels and Whitewall Tyres, the car is a real show stopper.
A substantial file of documentation, which accompanies the car, makes for fascinating reading. The many invoices and service bills record thousands of pounds expended on keeping it up to this exceptionally high standard.
An absolute pleasure to look at and a delight to drive. Here is an example which will surely be snapped up by the first knowledgeable enthusiast to view.
Available for viewing in our Kew showroom.
