General description : A body-off restoration was done on this Sunbeam Tiger. And, on the wishes of the owner, the car was transformed into a rally car in the same go. The body was completely stripped and then reinforcements were added to increase the torsional stiffness. This was done very professionally and the exterior of the car shows no traces of the work done. The mechanicals were done at various specialised workshops. The works included revision and tuning of the engine, the gearbox and the undercarriage and fitting of power assisted steering. And most that was done to complete the transformation into this fully fledged rally car has not even been mentioned yet. The restoration file consists of hundreds of photograps showing that no part was overlooked and that the materials used were all of top quality. The car was fitted with all equipment that a true rally car needs to have. The total cost amounted to over 200.000 Euros. However, the owner of the car went to live abroad after the works were finished and the car has rarely been driven. Many of the original parts, such as the wheels, an unrestored hardtop and the chairs, are supplied separately, as well as some new spare parts such as four especially made shock absorbers and a complete clutch. Deze Sunbeam Tiger werd body-off gerestaureerd. De opdrachtgever wilde deze bijzondere auto tevens transformeren naar een rallye uitvoering. De body werd volledig kaal gemaakt en voorzien van diverse verstevigingen ten behoeve van de torsie stijfheid. Dit werd op een zeer professionele manier gedaan en aan de buitenzijde van de auto is hiervan niets waarneembaar. Op diverse adressen, ieder met zijn eigen specialisme werd de techniek gedaan. De motor werd gereviseerd en getuned, de versnellingsbak en het onderstel werden aangepast en er werd stuurbekrachtiging gemonteerd. Eigenlijk is het teveel om op te noemen wat er allemaal gedaan is om de transformatie naar dit rallye kanon tot stand te brengen. Het restauratie dossier dat bestaat uit honderden foto's laten zien dat geen onderdeel werd overgeslagen en dat er alleen top-materialen gebruikt werden. De auto werd verder uitgerust met alle denkbare equipment die een serieuze rallye auto nodig heeft. De kosten die gemaakt werden bedragen meer dan 200.000 Euro. Doordat de eigenaar van de auto na voltooiing van alle werkzaamheden naar het buitenland verhuisde is er nauwelijks met de auto gereden. Veel van de originele onderdelen, zoals de wielen, een hardtop (ongerestaureerd), de stoelen etc. worden los bijgeleverd net zoals enkele nieuwe reserve onderdelen zoals 4 speciaal gemaakte schokbrekers en een complete koppeling. De rijeigenschappen, het vermogen en het geluid van deze sensationele auto zullen niet alleen de berijders maar ook de omstanders kippenvel bezorgen.
