Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1955 Bentley S1 Convertible for sale. This Bentley was ordered new, by Jack Barclay as a four door sports saloon for the 1955 Earls Court Motor Show. It was subsequently converted, at vast expense using all aluminum panel work to a beautiful two door convertible.
The Bentley S1 Convertible has just undergone an extensive restoration with everything imaginable being attended to. The suspension has been completely rebuilt, engine stripped and parts replaced as necessary. The Carburetors have been rebuilt. A full repaint and re-trim was also undertaken along with the brakes being stripped and completely renewed.
New walnut veneers have been installed throughout. The Bentley has been fully rewired and a higher capacity radiator fitted. The Bentley is thus, in stunning condition.
The paintwork is unmarked ‘Peacock Blue’ which polishes up to a deep and lustrous shine. The interior is cream leather complimented by dark blue carpets and a new beige double duck convertible roof. All woodwork has been removed and refinished. An upgraded period radio has been installed in the glove box with iPod/MP3 connectivity.
Under the bonnet the Bentley is like new being highly detailed. It starts instantly, idles with uncanny smoothness and drives beautifully. The original white special order steering wheel is still in place. To sum up this is a Bentley where all necessary expense has been met in full.
During the conversion, the chassis was bead blasted and coated with beige epoxy prior to being black enameled. The electric window motors are modern donor units to ensure long term reliability. All chassis mounting rubbers are brand new.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930
In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
